Growing Young Leaders

We want to introduce you to the 2023 Generosity Appeal Campaign: ‘Growing Young Leaders.’ Through the Lower Susquehanna Synod we are helping to develop Leaders for Youth Ministry, Nurturing Christian Community, and Discovering Unique Giftedness as Children of God Ministry with children, youth, and their families. We are committed to developing leaders who accompany growing disciples of Christ in today’s world. Your generosity enables us to mentor and accompany young leaders for a life of discipleship through intentional Christian community, spiritual gifts development, and vocational discernment.

  1. We are expanding scholarships for our Leadership Training Camp by 33%, so one-third more candidates are being welcomed into intentional leadership development, Christian community, and being nurtured in discipleship, as teens.
  2. We have been able to offer full scholarships to young people from communities of color and from families with financial limitations to attend our annual synod youth event ministries and camps. An example of this is the scholarship support for the youth from the Sudanese community.
  3. We initiated a ministry of accompaniment with young adults, ages 18-30, called NEXT, now gathering monthly for meals, conversation, and faith formation. We held our first retreat with this group in March of 2023.
  4. We have scheduled a continuing education and networking retreat for congregational youth ministry staff and volunteers for this fall.

#3 and #4 are ‘new’ ministries that are emerging as a result of the infusion of financial support made possible by the Generosity Appeal dollars.
